Why won't my boss hire a secretary to work in the office?

My boss won't hire a secretary but hires his wife instead to perform secretarial duties. She's got an attitude and a few of my coworkers know this situation is unprofessional. She freaks out over the smallest things like when the computers went dead in the office due to a power failure. The only other option is to start looking for another job that gives me more of a professional challenge.
BTW, I not the one who built a new house, bought my 2 kids brand new cars, and am paying their college loans!
